Perforating

Perforations allow you to tear paper easily and neatly, using pre-determined lines. There are a variety of perforating options that can be utilized. It can be done on press while printing using steel cutting rules with teeth, or after printing, using other methods.

Scoring

Heavy paper stock requires scoring to be folded cleanly and accurately. It is important that the fold is made with the ridge or hinge on the inside for minimum paper stretch.

Embossing

For a raised surface, bas-relief image, two embossing dies are needed. The first die is the relief, the second is recessed. Heavy embossing with detail is done on a special press with the die attached to a heated plate. Light embossing can be done on a platen or cylinder press.

Paper Cutting and
Die Cutting

Die cutting is done on a platen or flat bed cylinder or letterpress. Constructed from steel cutting rules, the dies are bent to the required image shape and mounted in
¾” plywood. A steel die-cutting jacket is attached to the press and ink rollers are removed. Paper cutting is done on power cutters using hydraulic clamps and blades. The draw of the guillotine cutter produces a slight difference in the size of the sheets on the top to the sheets on the bottom. To minimize draw on extremely precise jobs, cutting is done in small lifts and the blade is sharpened periodically.

Lamination

Our film lamination system has a one and two-sided application process. No matter if the project is in the press sheeet or single items. Your project can be trimmed to the sheet or edge sealed. This is a great way to protect menus, table tents and posters.
